This pictures is what i use for my running,i’ve currently only got 1 pair of
New Balance 901 shoes.
The basics of running is getting the proper shoe size and mould. My shoe is UK
size 9,because my feet is actually UK size 7 1/2 sometimes 8 depending on shoe
design. It’s advised that you get 1 size bigger, because when you run your feet
expand and it can get rather tight & uncomfy when your running 1 hour through. So
follow the general rule of thumb and get 1 size bigger.Do some googling and
you will find further confirmation of this truth. My New Balance 901 are super
light performance shoes,i bought it at Bukit Bintang’s New Balance shoe boutique.Over
there they have a threadmill for you to run on to test out the shoe.New Balance
are worn by running champions all over because they last and are more then proven.Well
i might be abit biased, but New Balance is truly a Running Shoe Company, they
seldom manufacture other shoes for other sports. And i’ve got a pair of New Balance
prior to this and it really lasted, 3 years of thrashing until the sole came
off.
I bought it during the Mega Sale towards end of 2006 at RM 286.It’s striking
yellow and has night reflectors built in-great for running in the night. This
shoe is only suitable for Slight overpronators and balanced runners.Overpronators
are people with the arch of their feet leaning more towards the outside.Balanced
runners are biomechanically efficient humans
they are neither under nor over
pronators so it’s dead right centre for their feet.As for myself i am just abit
slightly towards the overpronation side.
This shoes weigh in at 290 grams i read hence less cushionig, which is suitable
for 10KM runs. After using this shoe for almost 4 months now-it’s does feels
great & light when running although i miss the previous shoe which provided
more cushioning due to it’s thicker soles.I’ll definitely get another New Balance
or Nike for a more cushier run when the next sale arises.Sometimes i just need
that cushioning to absorb the long hard runs that i intend to do when i get
fitter and older
Next would be my Sigma PC 14 heart rate monitor, got this at a bargain. From it’s
bulky watch design, you will know that this model is a few years back in time.Well
as long as it still works,it doesn’t bother me.This has been a great tool to
gauge my aerobic performance. It calculates how much calories burnt, average heart
beat,Max heart beat, aerobic percentage during your workout session which will
tell you wheter your hitting the fitness zone. This gadget has helped me alot
in my quest for fitness and weight loss.
Next up is my 1 month old Philips 4 GB sports MP 3 player,it is indeed huge
compared to the sleek iPod and Creatives. But it’s not called sports MP3 player
for nothing. It’s specially designed huge because of easy to access buttons when
running, and it looks rugged too :). It has skip proof functionality, built in
stopwatch and lap times and radio for that occassional alternative to my classical
dulcet tunes.
Next my Adidas running jersey,it sure looks cool right ?And long sleeve helps
me to wipe of the sweat off my forehead. And on cold weather it helps, well it’s
nice and trendy.
Ah then my New Balance shorts, also bought from the same New Balance boutique
at RM 38.5.It sure is super light and it holds up well - if you know what i
mean
I should be wearing M instead of L,but they had no size then.
Finally my Renoma sports underwear,i bought 5 pieces of this for my daily wear
and it does forms well around you butt & crotch when you wear it.Compared
to the traditional triangular cotton pieces, this gives more room unlike the
latter which
sometimes clips ……….
Oh ya i did a 25 minutes run in the drizzle today, wasn’t in rhythm today, although
cooling.
I’ll give it a 3 out of 5, manage to do some fast tempo runs in between. So i’ll
be maintaining the fitness level.
And after a month’s workout and minimal carefull eating - i sheded off 2 kg,
thank goodness.
