First of all i like films based on true stories,& this Flying Scotsman yet
to be released movie based on Graeme
Obree’s achievement with no budget/sponsor.It’s not a rags to riches story
because i understand that he is now doing some gardening for a living.
But heck to me when i saw the trailer,it was quite inspiring. It’s a good cyclist
movie:)
Found some interesting reads with regards to this movie Graeme’s
interview
You can watch this trailer at youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7upvpUId6i8
What i can sum up from some postings of this character - Obree is that he was
trying to escape from his depressive situation, but aren’t we all
He dared
to dream & his determination & smarts took him there. Well as for me
i’ll be sticking with the daily humdrums of life

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackIn 1986 I was training really hard to get under 3 hours for the Glasgow marathon which was in september of that year .I`m a large framed guy and it was going to be a challenge . I decided to do triathlons to get my weight and power to weight ratio down.
In september 1986 ,during the ayr triathlon ,after coming out of the swim in third place, I was charging at a respectable pace on the bike on an undulating course. At the halfway point I looked behind me to see if anyone was pursuing me .The road was clear for about 500 meters .
I put my head down and thought I was going to win 3rd place when suddenly a cyclist from a different planet overtook me !!! It was ” L`Incroyable Monsieur Obree” I will never forget the speed he was doing !!!!!!!
Hi John, thanks for sharing your experience.Havent seen Obree in person, but from the trailer,he’s heck of a sportsman - must be super peak then & in then his super streamlined position you wouldnt know he was coming
Strange that he didnt go on to join those road riding teams in Europe…
